The Appalachian Du/Tri is held at Lake Sherwood Recreation Area in Greenbrier County, WV. Lake Sherwood is in the Monongahela National Forest and is managed by the US Forest Service. Their website has driving directions and information about the recreation area and campground.
Places to stay
Camping is open at Lake Sherwood for the event, but reservations are not available after Labor Day. People coming for the du/tri event are provided campsites as they arrive. The two campground loops that are used are:
- Pine Run Loop - standard campsites (no hookups). There is a restroom and shower house in this loop.
- West Shore Loop - standard campsites (no hookups) and open to everyone on a first come, first serve basis. It also has a shower house/restroom.
Note that Lake Sherwood does not have any sites with RV hookups. Detailed campground information is available on the Lake Sherwood web site.
Hotels and B&Bs
The nearest hotels and inns are about 1 hour away from the event site. The Greenbrier County Convention & Visitors Bureau has information about what to explore, where to eat, where to shop, and where to sleep. If you are coming from the south, the largest selection of hotels are in Lewisburg, WV and White Sulphur Springs, WV.
